Dear ScholarMatch community,

Over the past year, ScholarMatch has supported students in many ways, including providing $80,000 in emergency funds to scholars experiencing hardships in their paths to college graduation. We are proud and grateful for the generosity of our donors. Your flexible contributions allowed us to provide much-needed assistance to our students while we keep navigating this ever-evolving educational landscape. However, as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc in the communities we serve, we must continue to provide comprehensive support to students as they continue to face the challenges of choosing between college or working full-time to support their families.

In its latest Current Term Enrollment Estimates (CTEE) report, the National Clearinghouse Research Center highlights the growing decline of postsecondary enrollment. It dropped by 3.5 percent, or 603,000 students, in spring 2021. We can’t afford to lose ground on the gains we made in increasing the higher education enrollment of first-generation, low-income students.

This summer, we invite you to join us in this vital work. Donations of any size will go a long way, fueling our efforts to offer unparalleled college advising, targeted financial support, and career mentoring to students across the country. And thanks to a generous gift of $40,000 from a ScholarMatch board member, we are excited to offer a special matching challenge this back-to-school season. This means that every dollar donated between now and September 30 will be matched 1:1 up to 40k!

It’s a chance for every ScholarMatch supporter to see their impact doubled. Your gift today will go twice as far, helping make college possible for first-generation college students across the country. Can we count on you to double your impact today?

With gratitude,
Karla V. Salazar, Executive Director
