Dear friends,

We all know how expensive college can be, but for first-generation college students from low-income backgrounds, the road to graduation can almost seem out of reach. Many scholars may be balancing an academic workload with jobs and other family responsibilities, which can threaten their chances of graduating on time and pursuing a fulfilling career.

Enter the ScholarMatch program. Every year, we offer students free individualized college and career advising, targeted scholarships based on their unique needs, and access to emergency funds to help ease the financial burden of college. These funds cover unexpected expenses not covered by financial aid, such as medical bills, unpaid internships, or increased housing costs. Nationwide, students are grappling with the impact of record-high inflation, adding more uncertainty to an already stressful process.

So how can you help?

This summer, our goal is to raise $150,000 to provide our scholars with flexible funds so that they can focus on their academic performances and social experiences. A donation of any size can go a long way, helping students with unpaid internships, professional attire, and technology needs. Below are some examples of how you can help:

  • $100 funds a virtual college workshop for 20 high school students
  • $500 supports one college student with emergency funds
  • $1,000 provides Chromebooks for three college students
  • $7,500 covers a year-long scholarship for a college student

The value of a mentorship program like ScholarMatch goes far beyond these figures, positively impacting young people’s lives beyond college graduation. Make a tax-deductible donation today to support our scholars on their road to success.
